Owner Surrenders

Chicago Canine Rescue

Chicago Canine Rescue accepts owner surrender on a case by case basis, when space and resources are available, and pending a medical and behavioral evaluation. ** At this time CCR is only able to take small dogs up to 25 lbs. We take owner surrenders by appointment only, and we request a $100 donation towards their care.  Owners surrendering their pet should be prepared to provide proof of ownership and a photo ID at the time of evaluation. At this time we cannot accept any dogs that have a bite history or aggression. Please contact Rachel with a photo, behavior and medical history of your dog at rachel@chicagocaninerescue.org, or call us at 773-697-8848 to schedule an evaluation.

If you are unable to care for your dog due to the cost of routine medical care, please view our low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination resources as well as the Community Pet Coalition’s events.

If you are considering relinquishing your dog due to behavioral issues, please call Anti-Cruelty Society’s Behavior Helpline at (312)644-8338.

After reviewing your options, if you still wish to surrender your dog and we are not able to take them, please visit the Anti-Cruelty Society’s website.
