Meet The Staff

Abby and Ginger

Shelter Manager

Abby (She/Her)

I have worked in the animal welfare world since 2015 where I got my start working with wolves and monitoring wolf behavior. Since then I have had the amazing opportunity to work with animals like lions, bears, jaguars, tigers and more! At the end of the day, I always feel myself drawn back to working with dogs where I can see them find their forever homes and become part of a family. I have 4 kiddos (the 4-legged kind) at home who are all rescues as well. I always call my house the island of misfits since it’s home to a deaf dog, a blind dog, a dog with some major stranger-danger, and….well the cat is just kind of sassy!

Angel and Sophie

Kennel Manager

Angel (They/Them)

I have 2 pets: a tiny terrier mutt and a black cat that were both rescued as strays. I’ve always wanted to work with animals so I got a degree in Animal Sciences and started working here at Chicago Canine Rescue right out of college. It’s been a perfect job for me because everyday I get to help dogs find loving homes. Outside of animal welfare, I enjoy playing video games and trying to bake new things.

Jordan and Tater

Senior Kennel Technician

Jordan (He/Him)

I moved to Chicago in 2019 after working in horticulture for several years. I never expected I would end up in animal care, but as a lifelong dog-lover it’s felt like a natural transition and I love what I do. I’d have to say the most rewarding part of the job for me is getting to see each dog’s transformation during their time with us, as they slowly let their personalities shine through. I have a lovely pooch at home named Millie and when I’m not cleaning up after stinky pups, I enjoy listening to music and learning about nature.

Maysun and Dixon

Kennel Technician / Trainer

Maysun (He/Him)

Hi, I’m Maysun! My favorite part of working at CCR is being privileged to help unlucky dogs gain confidence, safety, and love! I’m a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner, and I enjoy playing agility and nosework with my own two cattle dogs.

Katelyn and Lloyd

Kennel Technician

Katelyn (she/her)

My name is Katelyn, I’ve always been super passionate about working with dogs and have been doing so since I was 14. I started out volunteering at shelters and I’ve also worked in grooming and daycare, but for me working with rescues is the most rewarding, getting to connect with dogs and help them on their way to finding their forever homes is something I enjoy very much. I currently have a 15 y/o beagle/bulldog mix, as well as two rabbits and a cat. Outside of work I love to do art, skateboard and hang out with my pets.

Jennifer and Lloyd

Kennel Technician

Jennifer (she/her)

I’ve worked in the animal care industry in one form or another since I was a kid. I got my start petsitting for neighbors, and after college I went on to work at a few doggy daycares around Chicago, along with running my own dog sitting services both independently and through Rover. I want to write for television, and I’m currently working on an idea for a sitcom called Life in the Doghouse, based on my adventures in Chicago’s doggy daycare industry. In my free time I like to watch TV, assemble Lego sets, write (or, y’know, stare at a blank Word document for a while and call that writing), spend time with friends, and shoot pool at the billiard hall where I used to work.
