Meet The Staff

Shelter Manager
Abby (She/Her)
I have worked in the animal welfare world since 2015 where I got my start by working with wolves and monitoring wolf behavior. Since then I have had the amazing opportunity to work with animals like lions, bears, jaguars, tigers and more! At the end of the day, I always feel myself drawn back to working with dogs where I can see them find their forever homes and become part of a family. I have 4 kiddos (the 4-legged kind) at home who are all rescues as well. I always call my house the island of misfits since it’s home to a deaf dog, a blind dog, a dog with some major stranger-danger, and….well the cat is just kind of sassy!

Adoption Coordinator
Angel (They/Them)
I have 2 pets: a tiny terrier mutt and a black cat that were both rescued as strays. I’ve always wanted to work with animals so I got a degree in Animal Sciences and started working here at Chicago Canine Rescue right out of college. It’s been a perfect job for me because everyday I get to help dogs find loving homes. Outside of animal welfare, I enjoy playing video games and trying to bake new things.

Kennel Manager
Jordan (He/Him)
I moved to Chicago in 2019 after working in horticulture for several years. I never expected I would end up in animal care, but as a lifelong dog-lover it’s felt like a natural transition and I love what I do. I’d have to say the most rewarding part of the job for me is getting to see each dog’s transformation during their time with us, as they slowly let their personalities shine through. I have a lovely pooch at home named Millie and when I’m not cleaning up after stinky pups, I enjoy listening to music and learning about nature.

Senior Kennel Technician
Katelyn (She/Her)
My name is Katelyn, I’ve always been super passionate about working with dogs and have been doing so since I was 14. I started out volunteering at shelters and I’ve also worked in grooming and daycare, but for me working with rescues is the most rewarding, getting to connect with dogs and help them on their way to finding their forever homes is something I enjoy very much. I currently have a 15 y/o beagle/bulldog mix, as well as two rabbits and a cat. Outside of work I love to do art, skateboard and hang out with my pets.

Administrative Assistant/Kennel Technician
Nicole (She/Her)
Having had many rescue dogs of my own, I grew up with a love for animal welfare. After spending eight years devoted to volunteering with rescues, pet pantries and clinics I decided to follow my passion and commit to the rescue world full time! I joined Chicago Canine Rescue officially in October 2022 after volunteering for over a year and I can’t imagine working anywhere else! I have two dogs of my own but you’ll often find a third (and sometimes fourth) pup in my home because I love to foster! CCR is one of a kind. I’ve never been surrounded by so many people who share the same values and purpose. I’m grateful for every day that I get to care for our dogs and be a part of this team!

Kennel Tech
Mav (She/Her)
Maverick has been with Chicago Canine Rescue for over four years now! Her passion for animal welfare started with walking dogs as a young girl with her mother at an animal shelter in Oak Park. In the last ten years, Maverick has worked at various animal shelters and dog daycares in Chicago and Wisconsin. She is currently doing part time kennel work at CCR while she prepares to graduate in May of 2023 with her bachelor’s in Philosophy at Northeastern Illinois University. Her favorite part about working at CCR is proudly belonging to a team of passionate, talented people who all work hard to deliver excellent quality of care to all dogs while they are transitioning into a better life. (Mav and Janie)

Kennel Tech
Eve (She/Her)
Hi my name is Eve! Working here at CCR has been a dream of mine since I moved to Jefferson Park when I was 11. I’ve always loved animals, and wanted to make a change in my community, and Chicago Canine Rescue is the perfect place to be! This is my first job at an animal rescue, and I’m thankful to be learning so much from so many talented people and animals here at CCR!
Adoption Counselor/Senior Kennel Technician
Maia (She/Her)
Maia was a dog sitter and walker for three years before joining the CCR team in February of 2022! She started as a kennel tech but during her first winter with us she expressed interest in joining the adoption team and has excelled as an adoption counselor since! She says that her favorite part of the job beside finding pups their perfect homes is spending time with and caring for our dogs!
